Explorer Pod
With the same focus of Tent Topped Camping Trailers tailored to smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles
and designed with DIYer’s in mind I’ve created a concept trailer I’m calling
the Explorer Pod. From feedback on the Explorer Box, a few themes have
bubbled to the top. First, it looks like a box, hence the name Explorer
Box. Second, I don’t want storage shelves, I’d rather use removable storage
box to organize my stuff.
For the Explorer Pod, I wanted a more off-road look and some angles. The front galley area has been removed and replaced with a nose box. The main rear storage area is enlarged and sized for Arko-Mils lidded storage boxes.
As with the Explorer Box; a glue and screw construction method with corner blocks. The screws are used as clamps during gluing and left in place for added strength. I use trim head screws to minimize the hole size and avoid the extra step of counter sinking the holes.
